Cute Children’s Halloween Outfits! | DIY

Autumn is my favourite time of the year. I love the golden landscape, the sound of crunching leaves under your boots. I get to bust out my favourite scarves and cozy sweaters. I devour pumpkin spice everything! I’m grateful for friends and family on Thanksgiving.

And of course there’s Halloween; hands down the best holiday! I will admit, I’m not partial to spooky ghosts and gore; I prefer the Martha Stewart version of Halloween. I’ve always enjoyed pumpkin carving and free candy, but dressing up is my favourite part!

I’m going to make my daughters’ costumes again this year, and it was on this particular shopping trip to Fabricland for costume supplies that I came across this cute cotton knit Halloween print. It was 50% off and I knew I had to do something with it!

I rummaged around in my stash of jersey knits at home and found a half yard of cotton jersey in Graphite from Mimi Fabrics. Perfect match!

Ellie and Mac‘s relaxed fit Kids Raglan Top and Kids Sunshine Leggings were perfect for what I had in mind. I purchased heat transfer vinyl in black, white and orange from Michaels to create cute Halloween graphics with my Cricut.

I ended up making three different sets; one for each of my daughters and one for a close friend’s son who had recently had their first birthday. I didn’t have enough of the Graphite fabric for all three so I cut up a plain grey t-shirt I picked up last minute from Michaels.

Here are the links to the free SVG files I downloaded for this project; I did tweak them in Cricut Design Space and add some of my own fonts to get the design I wanted. You can see in the following photos below.

I ironed the vinyl to the shirt front pieces before sewing any seams. Here are the results!

The Kids Raglan Top and the Sunshine Leggings patterns made for a super quick sew. I used my serger for all of the seams and then a twin stretch needle in my sewing machine for the hems and top stitching around the neckband of the shirt.

Here is the final result! I was in such a rush to get the light grey shirt done for my friend’s son’s birthday party that I completely forgot to take a picture of the matching pants! They look exactly the same as the other two though.

My girls were so excited to wear their outfits to carve our pumpkins!

Next week I’ll be sewing their Halloween costumes!
